Figure-Ground Relationship

In this picture there are 2 things that can be seen. At first most might see that this a woman walking down a hill. On the other hand others might see the lady's face looking down. Either way the artist is meaning for both of these to be able to be seen.

Asymmetrical Balance

If you were to cut this picture in half you would only be able to pick out symmetry toward the middle because the girl in the middle would look pretty much the same on both sides. On the other hand my entire body is on the left with no other person on the right. There is also a blue slide and a tree on the left. On the right there is a small flower plant. These 3 things are diversely colored and do not have a match on the other side so the photo is not symmetrical.

Cool Colors

Bridge
This picture is mainly white, and shades of green and blue with a few brown and darker spots. Since the colors blue and green are greatly present this photo is a great example of cool colors and how they make us feel as if here the weather is calm, cool, and refreshing.

Warm Colors

Crab
This image illustrates warm colors because of two aspects. First most of this image, the bucket, is orange which is one of the two primary warm colors. Second there are no cool colors, blue or green, in this picture so no cool feelings from this photo are felt.

Lighting

        Chiaroscuro

With the light coming directly from only one side of the frame only half of the face is lit. This creates the Chiaroscuro illusion that makes the viewer feel emotional toward the picture. This is a very powerful way to get a message across.

Perspective

One-Point
Taken on Siesta Key Beach in Florida I believe that this photo has one-point perspective properties. The ocean, shore, beach, people, and housing seem to all just disappear where the sun is setting. So the sun here is the focal point.

Apparent Movement

This photo is a good example of Apparent Movement because you can tell that I'm jumping. Two things tell the brain that I'm jumping. One is that my feet are blurry and if I was would be clear if I was just kneeling. Second, my hair looks as if it were floating and we know this can't happen normally because of gravity so my body must be falling faster than my hair. This could only happen if my body was higher than normal and it got that way by jumping.

This image represents closure because the sphere that the spikes are coming out of is not drawn. And even though it's not there, we know the shape in the middle is a sphere.

Sign-1

Iconic

This photo is an example of an iconic sign because of 3 things. First the color of the sign, yellow, signifies caution, to watch out for something or someone. Second the letters spell out "CAUTION" so this is also a representation to look out and be alert. And third, what looks to be the mother, because of height and authority of taking the hand of the small one, and two children, thought to be children of their size and being with an adult, running is a sign that we know to be crossing the street since this is where this sign is placed. We know they are running because they are leaning forward and their legs are at angles. Lastly, we know they are leaning forward because knees only bend one way.

Indexical Sign
This photo represents an indexical sign because the viewer has to put together that these prints are from someone physically stepping into the sand. There is no way that these could just appear by nature.

Code

Metonymic
Out of the decisions for the Code Principle I chose the Metonymic Code. This code is one that is described by causing the viewer to make assumptions about the picture. In this picture a spectator would reason that it was windy at the time this picture was taken. The movement of the hair to the right is telling us that there has to be something there moving it because otherwise gravity would be pulling it straight down.
